Donna Bingham Munger, "Pennsylvania Land Records - A History and Guide for Research", Scholarly Resources, Inc., Wilmington, Del., hard cover, 240 pages.
This is the book to buy if you are serious about Pennsylvania Land Records. Donna was a Director at the Pennsylvania Archives at the time she researched and wrote this volume. It simply has it all - history, policy, records management, terminology, a full index. Available from several on-line booksellers.
Charles H. Glatfelter, "Pastors and People" Volume 1 - Pastors and Congregations", The Pennsylvania German Society, Volume 13, 1979, hard cover, 551 pages.
Charles H. Glatfelter, "Pastors and People" Volume 2 - The History", The Pennsylvania German Society, Volume 15, 1981, 544 pages.
Both these volumes are superb for anyone researching early Lutheran and Reformed congregations, pastors, elders and what-not. Dr. Glatfelter has done a first-rate job with these works. All listings are fully documented and indexed. These volumes are out of print, but still available through some on-line booksellers.
Neal Otto Hively, "The Manor of Springettsbury - It's History and Early Settlers", York County, PA, Volume 6, 1993, paperback, 272 pages.
Yes, I do list one of my own books. It's soon to go into its eighth printing and has been very well received. This volume is one of the best summaries for where to find original Pennsylvania land records. See the on-line Booksellers link for ordering information or order directly from the author.
One more - it's the book I wish I had when I first started actually "plotting" survey and deed descriptions. This book has also been well received - now in its tenth printing!
Hively, Neal Otto, "How to Plot Land Surveys: A Basic Primer for Drawing Deeds, Surveys and other Land Descriptions." For more detail see the book's summary page: HOW TO PLOT
